Introduction
Swoop is a browser extension that shows a navigation wheel for switching tabs with a gesture, plus a history of your tabs, of which nothing older than 30 days is ever kept. This policy explains exactly what it does and does not do with your data.
Swoop has no server of its own. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.
What Swoop stores, and where
Everything Swoop saves stays in your own browser's storage. It is never sent to us, because we operate no server and no analytics of any kind. One thing only can leave your machine, and your browser is what carries it, not us: the copy of your slots, described below.

How many days of history you actually get back also depends on the room your browser leaves us: 30 days is what we never go beyond, not a duration we promise you. You can stop this recording in the settings, erase the whole history from the history page, and export it yourself as HTML or JSON from the timeline: the resulting file is yours.
The copy of your slots travels through your browser's own sync account (Google or Mozilla), under their own policies, and never through us; with no account signed in, it does not leave the machine. In the settings you can also save your wheel to a file and restore it from a file: that file is yours and goes nowhere.
Private browsing
Tabs in a private (incognito) window are never recorded: they do not enter the history, even if you allow Swoop in private browsing. They also never show up in the wheel of another window, nor in its search: what is open in a private window stays in that window.
The content of the pages you visit
Swoop draws its wheel on top of the page so it can open anywhere, including in fullscreen and inside embedded frames. It does not read or modify your page content, does not fill in forms, does not intercept what you type and does not listen to any network traffic. What it uses from a tab is its title, address and icon, to show them on the wheel's slices and in the timeline.
Payments
The one-time Pro purchase is handled by ExtensionPay, a third-party service that uses Stripe for payment processing. When you choose to buy or restore Pro, you interact with ExtensionPay's own pages. ExtensionPay processes your email address to manage your license, under its own privacy policy and Stripe's.
Swoop itself only receives a yes/no "paid" status. We do not see or store your payment details.
Permissions
- tabs: to read the title, address and icon of your tabs, and to switch to the one you aim at. Without it the wheel would have nothing to show and nowhere to go.
- tabGroups: to show your tab groups as destinations, and to collapse them again behind you if they were collapsed.
- storage and unlimitedStorage: to keep the items listed above. unlimitedStorage is required because 30 days of history exceed the default quota.
- scripting (Chrome): to show the wheel in tabs that were already open when the extension was installed or updated, without forcing you to reload every page.
- favicon (Chrome): to show a site's icon from the browser's own database, with no request to that site.
- Access to all sites (<all_urls>): the wheel must be able to open on any page, because any page is a place you switch tabs from. This access is used only to draw the wheel on top of the page and listen for the gesture there. It includes extensionpay.com, where your license status is checked.
Your browser sums all of this up as "read and change all your data on all websites". That is the standard wording for this access and there is no finer-grained one: what Swoop actually does with it is described above, and the extension's source is provided in the clear to Mozilla's reviewers.
No tracking
Swoop contains no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no third-party scripts beyond the ExtensionPay library used for the optional purchase.
