Introduction

Quick Questions & Answers (Q&A) for Confluence lets people in a Confluence space ask questions, answer them, vote and mark the accepted answer. It runs on Forge, Atlassian's platform for cloud apps. Webelisys runs no server for it.

Everything the app writes stays in your Confluence site and in the app storage that Atlassian provides. The app sends no data to Webelisys or to any third party. Atlassian hosts Confluence and this storage.

Because Webelisys receives none of this data, it is neither a data controller nor a data processor for it. Your organisation, which runs the Confluence site, decides what is kept and for how long.

What the app writes in Confluence

Each question is a Confluence page and each answer is a child page of its question. They are created in the name of the person who asks or answers, so that person is shown as the author, like on any other page. There is no anonymous mode.

The app also adds its own labels and page properties to these pages: the vote total, which answer is accepted, and, on imported pages, where the question came from. These properties hold no name and no account identifier.

When questions are imported from another Q&A app or from a file, the name of the original author is written in the text of the imported page.

What the app keeps in its storage

The app keeps a few records in the storage that Atlassian provides to Forge apps. So that each person votes only once, it keeps one record per vote and per person, and the key of that record includes the person's Atlassian account identifier. It also keeps the settings of each space, the list of answers of each question, the state of an import, and a list of pages to repair when a label could not be added, which can name the author.

During an import from a file, the file is kept in this storage while the import runs, and deleted at the end or at the next import. No other page content is copied into the storage.

How long data is kept

Questions, answers, labels and page properties are ordinary Confluence content. They stay in your site for as long as you keep them, including after the app is uninstalled, and they are deleted like any other page.

Vote records stay while the app is installed, unless the account is closed (see below). Atlassian deletes the app storage 28 days after the app is uninstalled, as described in the Forge storage documentation.

Closed Atlassian accounts

The app reports the account identifiers it stores to Atlassian's personal data API, as Atlassian requires. When Atlassian says that an account is closed, the app erases that person's vote records, and their votes stay in an anonymous counter, so vote totals do not drop. The account is also removed from the list of pages to repair and from the state of imports.

Emails to the author of a question

When someone answers a question asked in the app, the app adds a comment at the bottom of the question page that mentions its author, and Confluence sends the email, as it does for any mention. The app sends no email itself. A space administrator can turn this off. There is at most one email per question every 10 minutes, and five per question per day. Nothing is sent for imported questions.

Exports

The Export buttons download the questions of a space as a JSON or CSV file, with only the questions the person exporting can read. The file can contain the display names of authors, never their account identifiers. Once downloaded, the file is the responsibility of the person who exported it.

No tracking

The app sets no cookies, uses no analytics, and contains no tracking of any kind. Webelisys receives no information about your questions, your answers or how often you use the app. Atlassian, as the platform operator and as the seller, handles billing and its own operational data according to its own privacy policy.

Your rights

The data stays in your organisation's Confluence site, and Webelisys has no access to it. To see, correct or delete what concerns you, contact the administrator of your Confluence site. Pages can be edited or deleted in Confluence like any other page.

Messages sent with the form on our support page go through Web3Forms, a form service, to reach the Webelisys mailbox. They are used only to answer you. Web3Forms keeps a copy for a limited time, then deletes it automatically.

How the app is secured, and how to report a security problem, is described in our security policy.
